Building hope this fall

Neighbors coming together to create strength, stability, and opportunity

BUILDING STRENGTH THROUGH HOME

As the leaves change and cooler weather arrives, fall reminds us of the importance of home. A safe, affordable place to live gives families a foundation for stability, the freedom to pursue their goals, and hope for a brighter future. Through homebuilding, Habitat for Humanity – Clinton County brings neighbors together to help make that opportunity possible.

CONNECTING OUR COMMUNITY WITH RESOURCES

Alongside our homebuilding work, Habitat for Humanity – Clinton County supports education and connects Partner Families and other Clinton County residents with valuable local resources:

• The Clinton County Health Department offers free immunizations for families.

• The Wilmington Public Library provides free activities for people of all ages.

• Additional community organizations offer programs and services to help local families thrive.

EVERY CONTRIBUTION BUILDS HOPE

Every contribution makes a difference. Volunteers share their time and skills, donors provide critical support, and community partners turn a shared commitment into lasting impact. Together, these efforts help families create homes that are more than shelter—they are foundations for stronger, healthier communities.

FALL KITCHEN TIP

After a long day of work, school, and everyday responsibilities, few things are as comforting as coming home to a hot meal. Slow-cooker recipes can also help stretch the grocery budget: less expensive cuts of meat become tender when cooked low and slow.

Three-Ingredient Salsa Chicken

Try chicken thighs instead of breasts or cook a whole chicken to create a satisfying meal with leftovers for another lunch or dinner.

Ingredients

• 1–2 pounds chicken, such as boneless thighs or breasts

• 2 packets taco seasoning

• 1 jar salsa—chunky or smooth, mild or spicy

Directions

1. Place the chicken in the slow cooker.

2. Sprinkle the taco seasoning over the chicken, then pour the salsa on top.

3. Cook on low for 6–8 hours.

4. Shred the chicken in the slow cooker and stir it into the sauce.

Serving ideas

Serve the chicken in tacos, over rice, or on a taco salad. Add shredded cheese, sour cream, or your favorite taco toppings.
