2025 Fall Appreciation Dinner

Habitat for Humanity-Clinton County gathered at Wilmington Presbyterian Church on Tuesday, November 18, for a special Fall Appreciation Dinner. A wonderful group of 61 volunteers, construction workers, board members, vendors, and guests enjoyed an evening of delicious dishes, fellowship, and celebration.

Pastor Angel Boll delivered an inspiring message about the challenges facing our world today and the importance of serving others. Her husband shared with each attendee a symbolic carpenter’s nail—representing the suffering of Jesus and the calling to give of ourselves. The word “Others” resonated deeply with everyone present.

Affiliate President Cecilia Krusling provided an update on this milestone year as HFH-CC celebrates its 30th anniversary. The year included a ceremonial groundbreaking attended by local officials, partner families, and supporters to mark the start of our 50th home. She highlighted the significant fundraising efforts that made progress possible, including the record-setting Golf Outing led by Mitzi Dennis, Mike Wetzel, and their team, which raised more than $5,000 over previous years. Eric Nieder was recognized for his leadership in the Corn Festival Habitat Booth, which also surpassed past fundraising totals. Cecilia emphasized the ongoing rise in building costs and the continued need for financial support.

She reiterated the need for donations toward branding the Habitat Box Truck—an essential tool for ReStore procurement. The truck also serves as a valuable mobile advertisement for both Habitat and the ReStore throughout the community. Cecilia emphasized that ReStore profits directly support the construction of future Habitat homes.

The highlight of the evening was the awards ceremony. The first award honored Charlie Lakatos, who recently passed away. Although no longer able to swing a hammer, Charlie continued to support the affiliate and secured thousands of dollars in grant funding. Two wooden toys he crafted were displayed on the speaker’s table in his memory.
