Over 100 golfers teed it up at the Elks #797 Golf Club on Friday July 18 for the Habitat for Humanity-Clinton County 29th annual Swing for a Cause charity golf outing that raised more than $19,000. The event marked a significant success, combining competitive spirit with community generosity to support a meaningful cause.
Hosted by Habitat for Humanity-Clinton County, the outing featured a full day of golf, camaraderie, contests, prizes, and a pre-round lunch — all in the name of fundraising for building homes right here in Clinton County.
“We are overwhelmed by the turnout and generosity shown today,” said Mitzi Dennis, Board member and Golf Committee Chairperson. “This event not only brought the community together for a great day of golf but also made a tangible difference for Habitat for Humanity-Clinton County.
Event Highlights
Participants enjoyed an 18-hole scramble format, with prizes awarded for closest-to-the-pin, longest drive, and a hole-in-one challenge for a new car. The top team, Elevation Community Church — comprised of team members Greg Dolby, Eric Dolby, Ron Johnson, and Kevin Watts — took home the trophy with an impressive score of 46.
Community Impact
Funds raised from the outing will directly support the building of homes, helping Habitat for Humanity-Clinton County expand its reach and continue its vision of a world where everyone has a decent place to live. “Thanks to this event, we’re able to continue our mission to build decent, energy efficient, affordable homes for those in need,” said Cecilia Krusling, President of the Board of Trustees.
Looking Ahead
With its success and positive feedback, organizers are already planning for next year’s outing, aiming to make it even bigger and more impactful.
“We couldn’t have done this without our sponsors, volunteers, and the amazing support from our community,” said Cecilia. “We’re excited to build on this momentum and continue making a difference in our community. Feel free to drive by our 50th home on S. Mulberry or stop by home number 51 on Grant Street in Wilmington to see the progress firsthand.”
